Cementing is to inject cement slurry between the casing ring and the formation, and the cement slurry is cured to form a cement sheath. The main function of the cement sheath is to suspend and protect the casing, reduce and delay the influence of the formation on the casing, improve the stress state of the casing, and extend the service life of the casing. During the development of oil and gas wells, the cement sheath is subjected to various pressures, including changes in internal pressure and temperature. Variations of various loads usually lead to seal failure, casing pressure, fluid channeling and even scrapped wells. The sealing ability of the cement sheath is not only directly related to the effective implementation of drilling, completion, development, EOR and other measures, but also depends on the overall economic benefits of oilfield exploration and development.
In the process of oil and gas cementing, the demand for high-performance cement slurry polymer modifiers is increasing. Synthesized from the main monomers butyl acrylate (BA), methyl methacrylate (MMA), acrylamide (AM), functional monomers vinyl triethoxysilane (VTS), glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) A new type of polymer modifier with excellent water loss control and high strength and toughness and an ammonium persulfate (APS) initiator through emulsion polymerization are developed.
By using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), laser particle analyzer, scanning electron microscope and differential scanning calorimeter, the water loss mechanism and microstructure of polymer latex cement slurry were studied.
Experimental results show that when the polymer content reaches 5%, the copolymer can be cross-linked at 160°C, and the water loss control is the lowest at 12 ml. The acrylate latex modified by the silane coupling agent VTS has excellent performance in controlling water loss and the mechanical properties of oil well cement.
These results have potentially important value for the development of new polymer cement modifiers with high thermal stability and durability.
