Polyurea is an elastomer substance formed by the reaction of isocyanate components and amino compounds.Divided into pure polyurea and semi-polyurea, their performance is not the same, the most basic characteristics of polyurea is anti-corrosion, waterproof, wear resistance and so on.

A class of compounds formed by the reaction of an isocyanate component with an amino compound.The isocyanate components may be monomers, polymers, isocyanate derivatives, prepolymers, and semi-prepolymers.

Polyurea is a carbonated polyamide and is comparable to polycarbonate, which is a carbonated polyester.The polarity of urea group is large, and more hydrogen bonds can be formed, so the melting point of polyurea is higher than that of the corresponding polyamide, and the toughness is also large, which is suitable for textile fibers.

The best way to synthesize polyurea is to refer to the synthesis method of polyurethane, that is, the reaction of binary amine and diisocyanate.The reaction exothermic can be dispersed by solution polymerization or interface polymerization.Because it is a step by step addition reaction, there is no side reaction, the polymerization process is relatively simple.For example, the melting point of 2, 4-toluene diisocyanate and 4,4' -diaminodiphenyl ether is as high as 320℃.

Polyurea is widely used.Its application fields are: concrete protection accounts for 60%, truck wear-resistant lining accounts for 15%, steel structure anti-corrosion accounts for 10%, roof waterproof accounts for 10%, other accounts for 5%.

As a protective technology, polyurea technology is mainly used in four fields of waterproof, anti-corrosion, anti-abrasive and surface decoration.For example, the application of polyurea in pipeline anticorrosion is also the earliest and largest engineering application field of polyurea technology.Applications in other fields also include steel structure anticorrosion (especially wharf steel pile anticorrosion), elastic anti-collision materials (sea buoy, string), nuclear power plant protection, national defense industry (tank chassis, bulletproof helmet), swimming pool facilities, etc.
