The cement is used as a sealing material while drilling an oil and gas well. Pumping cement behind the casing provides a barrier to the fluids flow from or into the formation, and bonds the casing to the formation. This is called a primary cement job. Cement is also pumped for other reasons like sealing off perforated casing or plugging zones

Dispersants also known as friction reducing additives are added to improve upon the flow properties of cement slurry. In particular, they are used to offset overly-high viscosity and some slurries tendency to gel. Dispersants assist in providing fluid loss control for high density slurries. They also help establish turbulent flow at low pumping rate when needed. Dispersant allow the water content of the cement to be lowered without making it difficult to pump. At right concentration, dispersants improve cement homogeneity and lower its permeability. However, an overdose of dispersant can produce phase separation in the cement slurry that results in cement particles settling out of solution and the development of free fluid.

They are used to lower the slurry viscosity in order to improve the flow properties. The most common dispersants are the salt, polymers and calcium lignosulphanate.

RF-9606 is polymer water dispersion made from butadiene, styrene and unsaturated carboxylic acid by emulsion polymerization. High chemical stability, good compatibility with cement paste, good adhesion between oil and water runny interface. After hydration, latex cement slurry can form a dense and impermeable system to effectively control water loss. It can improve the elasticity and compression strength of cement and effectively reduce the rupture degree of cement surface during perforation. It can improve the resistance of cement to fluid corrosion and improve the durability of cement.
