Matters needing attention
Any chemical substance will have both advantages and disadvantages to human body and the environment. How to make the best of the advantages and avoid the disadvantages lies in how to manage and use them correctly, especially for the application of flame retardants.Based on the conclusions of risk assessment, we should take a scientific attitude and let flame retardants play their due role in safeguarding the safety of human life and property. The Ministry of Public Security implemented the flame retardant standard for flame retardant products in public places in 2007.The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) has formulated a standard for flame retardant products and components in public places, which will be formally implemented in early 2007, and it sets higher requirements for flame retardant properties of plastics. The standard was formulated by the Ministry of Public Security for the purpose of effectively controlling the casualties and property losses caused by fire in public places, and is under the centralized management of the Fire Prevention Material Sub-committee of the National Technical Committee of Standardization on Fire Protection. This standard has been clear about the public with the definition and classification of flame retardant products and components, combustion performance requirements and logo etc, provides for public use of building products, floor materials, wires and cables, sockets, switches, lamps and lanterns, plastic products such as home appliances shell, and used in the seat, sofa, mattress and foam thermal insulation layer of the combustion performance, put forward the corresponding requirement for flame retardant standard scale.
Criteria for determining flame retardant:
1. Any test sample shall not burn to the edge or the upper end of the fabric after being ignited.
2. No holes should be formed in any test sample after being ignited.
3. There should be no burning droplet or molten material falling after ignition in any test sample.
4. Delay burning time must be less than or equal to 2 seconds.
5 smoldering time must be less than or equal to 2 seconds.
