Performance evaluation
A series of tests are carried out in accordance with current international standards or special regulations (established by purchaser) to test the following parameters to assess the flame retardancy of the material:
(1) ignition and flammability: that is, the degree of difficulty to be ignited;
(2) flame propagation speed: that is, the spread speed of the flame along the material surface;
(3) fire resistance: that is, the speed at which fire penetrates material components;
(4) Release rate (HRR): namely, the heat released during the combustion of the material and the rate of release;
(5) Difficulty of self-extinguishing;
(6) Smoke generation: including the amount of smoke, smoke release rate and smoke composition;
(7) the generation of toxic gases: including gas volume, release rate and composition.
