Polymers of acrylic derivatives. Methyl acrylate, acrylamide, acrylonitrile, and the like in acrylic derivatives are all important monomers. Polymethyl acrylate is widely used in the manufacture of adhesives; polyacrylamide is a hydrophilic polymer widely used in soil improvement, beneficiation, flocculants, coagulants, and biomedical materials; polyacrylonitrile is one of the most important fiber varieties As a wool substitute.
Polymethyl methacrylate The monomer methyl methacrylate is an α-methyl substitution of methyl acrylate. Polymethyl methacrylate has excellent light transmission and is often referred to as "plexiglass" (see Polymethacrylate).
Other acrylic polymers α-cyanoacrylate can polymerize in contact with water, alcohol, etc. It is an instant adhesive that is easy to use, has high adhesive strength and fast action. Copolymerization of α-chloromethyl acrylate with other monomers can increase the softening point of the latter. Copolymerization of α-carboxymethacrylic acid and acrylonitrile can improve the water absorption and dyeing properties of polyacrylonitrile fibers.
